Event Participation Waiver · Nepali Society of Thunder Bay (NEST)

This is a general notice about participation in NEST events. For specific events, particularly those involving children, sports, or physical activity, NEST may ask participants to read and sign a dedicated waiver provided at registration.

Voluntary Participation

Participation in events organized or supported by the Nepali Society of Thunder Bay (NEST) is entirely voluntary. By attending or taking part in a NEST event, participants acknowledge that they do so of their own free will and at their own risk.

Assumption of Risk

Community events may involve activities such as food preparation and sharing, sports and recreation, travel to and from venues, outdoor gatherings, and cultural performances. Participants understand that these activities carry inherent risks. Participants are responsible for their own safety and the safety of any children or dependents in their care.

Supervision of Children

Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their own children at all NEST events unless a specific supervised program is clearly stated and staffed. NEST volunteers are not responsible for the general supervision of children attending events.

Food and Allergies

Food served or shared at NEST events is often prepared by volunteers. NEST cannot guarantee that food is free from allergens or prepared in allergen-free conditions. Participants with food allergies or dietary restrictions are responsible for checking what they consume.

Photography and Media

Photos and videos may be taken at NEST events for community documentation and social media. If you do not wish to be photographed, please inform the event coordinator. See our Privacy Note for details.

Release of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, participants release NEST, its board of directors, its volunteers, and its members from liability for any injury, loss, or damage arising from participation in a NEST event, except where caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct.

Conduct

All participants are expected to follow NEST's Community Guidelines. NEST reserves the right to ask anyone whose conduct is disrespectful or harmful to leave an event.

Emergencies

In any emergency at an event, call 911 first, then notify an event coordinator.
